UN report says Iran confiscating minorities’ land

Sunday, July 31st, 2005

A UN report released yesterday says that Iran is still harrassing ethnic and religious minorities (Baha’is), denying them basic amenities and confiscating their land:
[U.N. special rapporteur on adequate housing, Miloon Kothari] said there were also reports of the state confiscating land from the Bahai religious minority.
Bahais, whose religion was founded in 19th century Iran, […]

Baha’i Faith in The Salt Lake Tribune

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

Nice little piece in The Salt Lake Tribune yesterday about one man’s somewhat scientific search for spiritual answers and his eventual discovery of the Baha’i Faith. Interesting to see this kind of thing in a newspaper…

One Magazine @ CafePress

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

The ever slick and glossy One Mag has just opened its little corner store, to feed all of your One Mag cravings. Sadly, Bahaiblog has not yet opened its own one-stop-online-shop, so for the time being you’ll just have to write “bahaiblog” across your own white hoodies with a sharpie marker… and then send me […]

Bahai Centers Galore

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

So here are a couple of stories about communities getting big, shiney, new Baha’i centres. Now, new Baha’i centres usually aren’t all that newsworthy, but then again, who am I to argue with The Washington Post? (free registration may be required)
The three-story cylindrical structure will be located along Route 7 in Sterling and was designed […]

Smart prayer rugs

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

The sajjadah 1426 (it’s year 1426 in the Muslim calender) is a prayer rug that, thanks to a little compass and a whole lotta high techmonolology, glows when turned towards Mecca.

Ok, so some enterprising young Baha’i geeks need to get on the Bahji-directional one of these toute-suite. My credit card is standing by.

Earl Cameron update

Wednesday, July 13th, 2005

I know we’ve done this story already, but BWNS just did a story about it and then the solomon star followed with a story on the BWNS story. So I figure hey, why not post about a news story about a news story that we scooped in the first place? If that’s not what blogs […]

The Special Collection

Wednesday, July 13th, 2005

This all sounds a bit shady in an Indiana Jones villain kind of way, but it seems that there is an organization (I oh so badly want to write “secret brotherhood”) that has collected materials (mostly water and soil it seems) from many holy and religious sites from around the world and has finally put […]

Back from Uganda

Wednesday, July 13th, 2005

I’m back from Uganda, so posting should be back to normal (whatever that means). I was going to throw up a little post about the House of Worship in Kampala, but my photos aren’t back yet and I can’t tell you much more than you can find out from the link. But it sure is […]

Indian House of Worship in crazy travel blogs

Monday, July 4th, 2005

So when I started this blog, I set up a running search on technorati to let me know whenever people mentioned anything about the Baha’i Faith in their blogs. Both so that I could poach great ideas from other blogs and also so I could pass on all of the bloggity goodness to you. […]

Race Unity Day Round-up

Monday, July 4th, 2005

Ok, so it’s Race Unity Day time of year and these still seem to be trickling in on the old google search, but I might as well throw a bunch of these up for your consumption. So have a lookhere, here, here, here, here, here, here, here,

In Uganda

Monday, July 4th, 2005

So I had this really great plan for when I took off to Uganda for a few weeks so that you wouldn’t even know I was gone. Unfortunately, I left all of my login info on my desk and have only now figured out how to get in and access all of my pre-made posts […]
