Cape of Good Hope

Written by ry on August 17th, 2005

Cape of Good Hope, official selection at 10 international film festivals, winner of both the jury prize and the audience award at the Austin Film Festival, recipient of an honourable mention for the People’s choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival, and winner of the jury prize at the Starz Denver Pan African Film Festival will be hitting theatres in the US on November 11.
And why, dear Bahai Blog readers, is this at all important to you? Well I’ll tell you: Cape of Good Hope was written, produced and directed by Baha’is Mark Bamford and Suzanne Kay. And when people say things like this about a Baha’i made movie, we should all sit up and take notice:

“Wonderful… express the joys and sorrows of human nature… Nthati Moshesh is riveting!”
-Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

“The next good cry for lovers of Monsoon Wedding and Whale Rider.”
- Jake Brooks, The New York Oberver

“A gem. Cape of Good Hope is the definition of what critics hope to discover and champion…”
- Joe O’Connel, Express News

So mark it on your calenders and send your movie-watching suits to the cleaners, cause we’re goin’ Hollywood.

WOW! The youth employees here at the Mother Temple of the West are SUPER excited about this break through movie!! We just watched the trailer and were freaking out. There’s a beautiful scene were a man is explaining to a little girl that the glue that holds the universe together is love. OIY! This will do wonders for the Faith. I’m sure we’ll go out in numbers to see this one.
