Free computer courses lead to jobs (and blogs?)

Written by ry on January 6th, 2006

Sometimes these BWNS stories just give me the warm fuzzies. Here we have a Baha’i initiative in The Gambia to empower the people to create their own fancy blogs for the betterment of the world (I suppose they could actually get jobs too, but I think they’ll find the satisfaction they get from blogging beats a paycheck any day. I know it does for me).
But this story is doubly fun because I visited these classes way back in 2000 (back when blogs were little more than a twinkle in the all-seeing eye of the interweb), so it’s great to see how far they’ve come. Now I’m just hoping I can recruit one of their graduates to start posting to Baha’i blog. You know, for that real international flavor. Any takers?

Well, my brother taught these classes when he was in the Gambia for his year of service in 2003 - does that count? :-)
