Red Grammer, Grammy bound

Written by ry on January 16th, 2006

Red Grammer’s newest album, ‘Be Bop Your Best’, has been nominated for a Grammy. Most of you little boys and girls probably know Red best for his 1986 release ‘Teaching Peace’ (I know I still have ‘Barnyard Boogie’ stuck in my head), but it looks like this album, which features a guest appearence by legendary trumpeter Maynard Fergusson, might be his best work yet. Fran Grauman, in her review on About.com says of the CD:

Red Grammer definitely deserved this Grammy nomination. This album would be great for kids, families, teachers, counselors, church groups, and more. It would also appeal to a wide range of ages. These are not simple silly songs - every song has a good lesson.

Yeah man. “Soul Man in a Techno World” and “Free Falling” are definitely two of my favorite albums. Have to check this new one out sometime…

My sister was the cat that ‘meow’ed in Barnyard Boogie. I was supposed to be singing on that album, but I faked sick. Instead I went with my mother to a christmas party. And to think, I chose Christmas instead of the turkey’s “gobble gobble.”
