Days of Remembrance: A New Volume of Baha’i Writings

On January 18th, the Baha’i World News Service shared that a new volume of Writings of Baha’u’llah in English has been released! Days of Remembrance: Selections from the Writings of Baha’u’llah for Baha’i Holy Days has been published and can be read online in its entirety on the Baha’i Reference Library! 

This volume contains 45 selections revealed specifically for, or in relation to, the nine Holy Days Baha’is around the world commemorate every year as part of the Badi calendar (or Baha’i calendar).

Three passages relating to the Twin Holy Days were released to the world last year. In the volume’s preface, it is explained that eight passages may be familiar to Baha’is as Shoghi Effendi translated them and included them in Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah and Prayers and Meditations by Baha’u’llah — the remaining selections, for the most part, are published in English for the first time in this new volume. The preface also states:

It is hoped that this volume will uplift the hearts and souls of the followers of the Blessed Beauty throughout the world and will enrich the gatherings they hold in commemoration of those days that stand apart from all other days through their association with Him and His Herald.

Published in anticipation of the Bicentenary of Baha’u’llah’s Birth in October of 2017 and the Bicentenary of the Birth of the Bab (to be celebrated in 2019), these sacred Writings will both enrich our personal remembrance of the Twin Manifestations and our communities’ celebrations of Their Births. As the Baha’i World News article says:

These sacred events are being planned at a time when Baha’i communities are learning about the enrichment of the devotional aspects of community life and about the relationship between worship of God and service to humanity.
