Songs from Zambia

May 20, 2018, in Music > Community, by

The Baha’i World News Service released a great news story titled “Lunda people draw on Baha’i Teachings to transform culture, music”. The article recounts how vital music is to the Lunda people in Mwinilunga, Zambia for communication and as a cultural expression; collective singing is integral to daily activities and interactions. “Our singing is inspired by our culture and tradition,” says Gregory Kaumba, a member of the Baha’i community in Mwinilunga. “But now, much of what we sing about is influenced by the Baha’i writings.” Included in the news article is a short playlist of five songs, sung by the Lunda people, and they are all joyful expressions of their love for the Teachings of the Baha’i Faith.
