In this presentation given at the Justice Conference 2022, Xiye Beara Bastida Patrick gives a talk called “Building Today the Community We Want to Live in Tomorrow”.

Xiye shares how the process of creating the Re-Earth Initiative has been incredibly inspiring, and how the people involved are putting their minds and hearts together around the question: “What does it take to live in a just world, and how do we build a community that can address injustices in long-lasting ways?” She also mentions three fundamental principles that are guiding their organisation as they grow in all five continents to Re-Earth the tomorrow we want to live in.

Xiye Bastida is a climate justice activist with an Otomi-Toltec background and a public speaker who advocates for youth and Indigenous rights. She is pursuing a degree in Environment Studies and Latinx Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
