In this episode of Mind & Soul Matters, Dr Katie Carter shares insights from her extensive experience in social work, policy development and research, on the impact of social determinants of mental health. She explains how certain social conditions can impact our mental health, and why we need to not only look after our own mental health but be concerned with the social forces at play in our communities.
Mind & Soul Matters is a podcast from a group of Baha’i friends in Perth, Australia. Through conversations with everyday people, the podcast aims to broaden our understanding of mental health and spirituality, and to deepen our insights into the challenges and meaning of our lives.
We wanted to learn more about the podcast so we interviewed its creators Maya Rose, Farah Feeney and Nasim Kasiri and learned how Mind & Soul Matters was launched in 2021 as a means of contributing to the public discourse around mental health.
Mind & Soul Matters is available online and on all major podcasting platforms.
