Baha’is see the young as the most precious treasure a community can possess. In them are the promise and guarantee of the future. Yet, in order for this promise to be realised, children need to receive spiritual nourishment, such as can be found in the children’s classes happening all around the world.

Mind & Soul Matters is a podcast from a group of Baha’i friends in Perth, Australia. Through conversations with everyday people, the podcast aims to broaden our understanding of mental health and spirituality, and to deepen our insights into the challenges and meaning of our lives.
In this episode, Dr Jasmine Bell, coordinator of the program for the spiritual education of children in Western Australia, outlines the elements of an education curriculum aimed at bringing out the best in every child, and explores how children, parents and communities can benefit from this program. Also discussed is whether a spiritual education program can contribute positively to our children’s mental health.
We wanted to learn more about the podcast so we interviewed its creators Maya Rose, Farah Feeney and Nasim Kasiri and learned how Mind & Soul Matters was launched in 2021 as a means of contributing to the public discourse around mental health.
Mind & Soul Matters is available online and on all major podcasting platforms.
