In this video the Baha’i International Community (BIC) expresses its deep concerned for the safety of all Baha’is in Yemen following the Houthi prosecutor’s baseless accusations against a member of its community, Hamed bin Haydara, who is appealing his death sentence.
Hamed bin Haydara has been detained since 2013, and following a series of sham trials, Mr. Haydara was sentenced to death in 2018. The court further called for the confiscation of all assets owned by Baha’is and the dissolution of Baha’i institutions. Hundreds of Baha’is face persecution on the basis of their religion in Houthi-controlled areas.

My prayers are with Hamed bin Haydara, for a positive outcome of his appeal of his totally unwarranted death sentence on 30 April 2019–two days from now, as I write this. I invite my fellow Bahá’ís to join me in reciting Bahá’u’lláh’s Fire Tablet as often as possible by way of supplication for the entire persecuted Bahá’í community in the Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, and to assist in any way possible in bringing this gross injustice to the attention of the world at large.
