In the Baha’i teachings marriage is referred to as “a fortress for wellbeing” and family is considered a fundamental and indispensable unit of society and the mainstay of community life.
This video clip was produced by CNN as part of filming for its series titled “This is Life with Lisa Ling”. In this clip, Lisa Ling meets Maxine and Jim Oliver who credit their decades-long marriage to the teachings of the Baha’i Faith. This clip didn’t make it into the final edit of the episode on the subject of interracial love and the Baha’i Faith, but it was shared on CNN’s website as it captures a very sweet story.
Lisa Ling interviewed Baha’i couples after reading a series of articles by Radiance Talley on Bahaiteachings.com about interracial love and marriage.
Radiance and her mother Barbara also spoke on our podcast, the Baha’i Blogcast, and they shared with us about activism and what we all can do to work towards racial harmony.
