Ridvan celebrates Baha’u’llah’s time in 1863 in the garden of Ridvan in Baghdad when He publicly declared His station as a Manifestation of God. The Ridvan Festival is 12 days long and is also the time of year when Baha’is elect their governing bodies.
In this talk, Bayan Smith shares how through effort we can make change. He explores the phrase “Don’t curse the darkness, light a candle”.
Bayan dedicates his time alongside friends in promoting a process of community-building in their neighborhood. They see their activities as making a contribution to refreshing and renovating some of society’s decaying values and idle standards. He has also been part of an agency coordinating this process at a national level for the past 3 years.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
