In 1844, Siyyid Ali-Muhammad (known by His title, the Bab, which means "the Gate") announced that He was the bearer of a Divine Revelation whose aim was to prepare the world for a Messenger of God--Baha'u'llah. The anniversary of that declaration is celebrated by Baha'is and their friends all over the world.
In the latest video from the Baha’i World News Service, we learn about the state of Uttar Pradesh, which recently saw 30 village chiefs, or pradhans, of different religions, castes, and affiliations gather for a constructive and united discussion on their shared responsibility for the prosperity and the spiritual well-being of their people. This one-day conference was organized by the Baha’i community, which is engaged in social and economic development initiatives that address various aspects of community life in the country, especially the empowerment of women.
