AI Guidelines

Baha’i Blog exists to “… draw receptive souls to a deeper appreciation of the Teachings and their profound implications for the individual and society, especially in a manner that will complement the work of the Cause in community building, social action, and involvement in the discourses of society.”

There are many principles drawn from the Baha’i Teachings that are relevant to this endeavour. These include: 

• We aim to publish content that embodies “an etiquette of expression worthy of the approaching maturity of the human race.” This means applying wisdom in what to express, being thoughtful, and applying great care and attention.
  
• Art can be a form of worship, and thus the making of, and sharing of, art can be an end in and of itself. There is tremendous value in the creative spirit and its expression through the arts.
  
• Truthfulness and trustworthiness suggest that our readers should be able to rely that personal stories are in fact human expression, that content created by machines is clear, and that we avoid misleading users in any way. To that end, we indicate if or how AI is used in the creation of our content and we will not use our contributors’ voices, photographs, articles or video footage to generate AI content without their explicit permission.

• We value the effort and process that goes into creating something. It is through the process of creating and collaborating that individuals sharpen their powers of expression, explore new insights, and deepen understanding. We aim to offer opportunities, accompaniment and encouragement for human effort.
  

The practical expression of these principles are:

• We prioritise human expression and contribution over machine-made content. 

• We ask our contributors to disclose if and how AI was used in the creation of their human-led work.

• We publish and promote written, audio and video work by humans (notwithstanding limited use of AI or other tools to help with basic support tasks such as spelling and grammar checking, mixing and editing).
  

We are in a mode of learning, and will continue to learn about how AI can most effectively contribute to the goal of drawing souls to a deeper appreciation of the Teachings.
