A New Baha’i Blog

February 28, 2022, in Articles > Baha'i Blog, by

With the whole Baha’i world on the precipice of a new phase of its history, working to the singular aim of releasing the society-building power of the Faith, we’re excited to announce our own evolution. As a proudly Australian independent initiative, Baha’i Blog has always existed to focus on Baha’i-inspired arts and media. There’s never been a more important time for the arts and media in our communities, and it’s time for us to take a fresh step forward with our humble initiative.

Our team’s consultations over the recent months, informed by guidance from the Universal House of Justice and the recent outline of the Nine Year Plan, have resulted in a new direction for the initiative. Going forward Baha’i Blog exists to inspire people in Australia to participate in the transformation of society.

The arts, media and storytelling have such vital roles to play in the community building, engagement, inspiration, and insights that are part of how Baha’is are seeking to transform the world around them. We’re aiming to put our efforts towards augmenting Baha’i Blog with new ways of surfacing, celebrating and utilising the arts in that transformation.

With a clearer focus on our audience here in Australia, we want to showcase not just content exploring the Baha’i Revelation, but also content that shows the transformative power of the Faith. We will gather stories and perspectives of people around Australia striving to put spiritual principles into action to transform their communities in ways both big and small.

We know lots of our visitors and readers stop in from other countries, and like the Baha’i Faith at large, our doors are wide open to everyone. But we’re also excited that new local and national Baha’i initiatives are unveiled every day, and we encourage you to support Baha’i inspired projects in your local communities as much as possible.

As long-time readers of Baha’i Blog know, this site isn’t just for Baha’is. Individuals sharing the vision of a world working towards a collective purpose of spiritual and material progress, are invited to read, participate and contribute. With our new focus and purpose, this will continue to be a key part of how we operate.

For all our readers and visitors, we’re going to be encouraging connection beyond the online sphere. After reading or watching or listening to something awesome, it’s the ideal time to reach out and connect with a local community, find activities to participate in, and meet with regular folks devoted to a vision of a world moving towards unity and spiritual and material prosperity. Through these interactions out in the real world, we’re hoping to see even more experiences, stories both personal and collective, and artistic expressions returned out to the world, including right back here on Baha’i Blog.

To mark all these changes, we’re busily working on a refresh of the Baha’i Blog site and brand. It’s our first website refresh in over eight years! It’s a big project and you can expect to see it come live in the months to come. We’re also working on a number of small and exploratory new content initiatives with lots of opportunities to collaborate and participate.

Baha’i Blog wouldn’t be possible without the work of many, many writers, creators, artists, musicians, and creators. That’s been true since our inception in 2011, and will be true in the years ahead. We’re so thankful for this community of creators, and excited that the Baha’i world recognises the importance of what you all do everyday. We look forward to welcoming ever greater numbers of creators, in the years to come.

Whether you’re a creator, an avid reader, or simply a casual visitor, we’d love to hear what you’ve been finding useful on Baha’i Blog, what you’d like to see more of, and how you’d like to contribute to this updated purpose of inspiring people in Australia to participate in the transformation of society.

So happy to see this action in alignment with the nine year plan, and truly will be so useful for me to see the local Bahai communities in action to inform my own community building where I live. I’m so inspired to see this intentional shift!

Thanks Jessa! I’m excited to see where it takes us over the years to come. I imagine it will be a little like shifting your steering wheel in a car, even if its just a little, over time it really adds up 🙂
