Here are 5 great Baha’i apps for the Android users out there. They’re all incredibly useful and, even better, free! Be sure to grab a copy and support our community of awesome Baha’i app developers.
Baha’i Prayers
Like having a prayer book with you but want to travel light? This is the app for you! This has to be one of my favourite ideas for phone apps ever – having a prayer book on my phone has come in handy on so many occasions. This user-friendly app has a selection of hundreds of prayers revealed by Baha’u’llah, ‘Abdu’l-Baha and the Bab in English, Spanish, French and German. A must-have!

Baha’i Qiblih Locator
Every day Baha’is turn to the Qiblih to say our obligatory prayers. Fixed at the Shrine of Bahá’u’lláh, near `Akká, in present day Israel, it can sometimes be a bit tricky to figure out exactly where to turn to face this spot. The Baha’i Qiblih Locator is a godsend, particularly for those among us with a less refined sense of direction! This app requires GPS support.

Ninety-Five
As part of Baha’i obligatory prayer, it’s necessary to repeat the Greatest Name (Alláh-u-Abhá) 95 times. Keeping track of where you are up to in the sequence, while trying to remain in prayerful contemplation is certainly no easy feat! Some people use prayer beads as an aid but for the modern, tech-savvy Baha’i can rely instead on the Ninety-Five app to get the number right. The phone vibrates once you reach 95 – a handy little feature that allows you to focus on the Greatest Name, instead of having to keep an eye on the screen!

Baha’i Study Tool
With a reference library, a memorization tool and a vocabulary trainer, this app is a great way to deepen your familiarity with the Bahá’í prayers and writings!

I just tried the Qiblih Locator and it works! You have to remember to hold your phone flat (parallel to the ground) to make sure the direction is correct. It uses the “great circle” calculation, which I is the truest direction to the Qiblih. This means that here in Los Angeles it pointed me to 23 degrees, which is like 4 minutes on a clock if noon is north – very close to facing north. Some Bahai’s face east, thinking of a flat map, but this is actually the fasted route to the shrine. Good program.

Good morning,
Is there an app for a Bahai calendar? Would be very useful. Thanks.

Hi Kyletn,
There’s an app for the iPhone called “Baha’i Faith” which has a Baha’i calendar in it. I’m not sure if it’s available on Android, but here’s the link to the app in the App store: http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/bahai-faith/id319910371?mt=8
I hope this helps!

There’s also recently a Baha’i Library androi app, similar to Ocean, where you can search or browse through Writings of Baha’u’llah, The Bab, Abdu’l-Baha, Shoghi Effendi, without requiring an internet connection.
