6 Baha’i Blog Studio Session Songs for the Departed

October 1, 2020, in Articles > Music, by

With the recent passing of Mrs. Violette Haake, Dr. Farzam Arbab, and Mr. Douglas Martin, plus the countless other souls who have “abandoned the physical garment and have ascended to the spiritual world”, as Abdu’l-Baha puts it in one of His prayers for the departed, I thought it would be befitting to share a few Baha’i Blog Studio Session songs which relate to the departed. (You can learn more about the Baha’i concept of death here: Exploring the Baha’i Concept of Life After Death).

01. “Prayer for the Departed” by Naseem Bahraini

In this Baha’i Blog Studio Session, we’re in Vancouver, Canada with Naseem Bahraini who sings “Prayer for the Departed” based on a prayer by Abdu’l-Baha.

02. “Departed” by Koichi Bartlett

In this Baha’i Blog Studio Session, we’re in Melbourne, Australia with Koichi Bartlett singing “Departed”, based on a prayer by Abdu’l-Baha.

03. “Prayer for the Departed” by The Humming Birds

In this Baha’i Blog Studio Session, we’re in Nashville, USA with The Humming Birds who sing “Prayer for the Departed” based on a prayer by Abdu’l-Baha.

04. “Prayer for the Departed” by Hailey & Milton

In this Baha’i Blog Studio Session, we’re in Durban, South Africa with Hailey Fudu and Milton Chissano who sing “Prayer for the Departed” based on a prayer by Abdu’l-Baha.

05. “Messenger of Joy” by Roz, Amelia & Andre

In this Baha’i Blog Studio Session, we’re in San Francisco, USA with Roz Fanaieyan, Amelia Fanaieyan and Andre Segovia who sing “Messenger of Joy” from the Writings of the Baha’u’llah.

06. “Paradise” by Sam Cleasby

In this Baha’i Blog Studio Session, we’re in London, United Kingdom with Sam Cleasby singing “Paradise” from the Writings of Baha’u’llah. Although the prayer this quote is taken from is not a prayer for the departed, I felt it was befitting.

Well, we hope these six Baha’i Blog Studio Session songs on the theme of the departed are able to provide some comfort, and let us know about any other Studio Sessions that relate to the departed we may have missed, or that you find comforting, in the comments section below.

Hi Naysan, great list of songs for the departed. One more for consideration is Luke Slott’s “Dominion” from the Year of the Nightingale album, based on Baha’u’llah’s quote “O SON OF MAN! Thou art My dominion and My dominion perisheth not…”

Brings tears to the eyes every time we use it at a funeral.

Thanks for the note and yes that song by Luke Slott is beautiful, however, this list is of Baha’i Blog Studio Sessions. 🙂
