Creator Brief: ‘Living Room Sessions’
Over the years, we’ve invited friends to come into a studio and record songs based on quotations from the Baha’i Writings as part of the Studio Sessions project. However, participating in this initiative depends on where you live and if we’re organizing a recording session. We realize that many people have not been able to take part in this project, so we’d love for you to send us your “Living Room Sessions”! (We’re calling it that–but you don’t have to record your song in a living room!)
The Brief
We’d love you to film yourself or someone you know singing a Baha’i-inspired song (it doesn’t have to be based purely on a passage from the Baha’i Writings). We’d prefer it to be a song you have composed yourself or if not, one you have permission from the original composer to share publicly. If you’re unsure, feel free to ask us!
The videos should be:
- Filmed vertically and steadily (use a stand or prop your phone on something so it doesn’t shake)
- Filmed close, we should be able to see your face, upper torso and any instrument featuring in the video
- Upbeat, captivating, inclusive, and inviting
- Well timed and interesting, not formulaic or slow
Watch out for
- Wind and other background noise is pretty problematic. Try to find somewhere without extra noises (unless you have a sophisticated mic set up that can deal with it!) .
- Also remember to hit record and wait 3 full seconds before you begin speaking/singing and when you’re done, wait 3 full seconds before you stop recording.
