Baha’is believe in the power of prayer and you’ll find Baha’is and their friends, throughout the world, getting together to pray. This is often referred to as a ‘devotional gathering’ or ‘devotional meeting’, and they happen in diverse settings, whether in cities or villages.
Baha’i Blog’s “Studio Sessions” is an initiative where we invite Baha’is and their friends from around the world to come into a studio and share the Baha’i Writings put to music.
In this Baha’i Blog Studio Session, we’re in Vancouver, Canada with Shadi Toloui-Wallace, Hoda Toloui-Wallace and Leif Thorseth who sing “I Adjure Thee” from the Writings of the Bab.
This song was filmed and recorded in Vancouver, Canada, January 2017.
Lyrics & Quote
I adjure Thee by Thy might, O my God! Let no harm beset me in times of tests, and in moments of heedlessness guide my steps aright through Thine inspiration. Thou art God, potent art Thou to do what Thou desirest. No one can withstand Thy Will or thwart Thy Purpose.

Thanks for sharing this Laura. Timely given the fast, and the fact I have only recently discovered Shadi’s music which itself is a gift. Heart, soul, and something special about it always leaves me feeling inspired and moved.
Thanks for the links to the additional articles Sonjel – also great reads, and nice to read about her own impressions of the evolution she has undertaken as both an artist and person.

A timely song/prayer for me especially during this period of the Fast. Thank you.

Hi Sean!
Thanks for your comment! Shadi’s music has a special place in my heart. If you haven’t read it already, we recently interviewed her about her latest album, Daughters of the Kingdom: http://bahaiblog.net/2017/01/shadi-toloui-wallaces-daughters-kingdom/ And she wrote a great piece for Baha’i Blog called “Making ‘Non-Secular’ Music in a Secular World”: http://bahaiblog.net/2016/09/making-non-secular-music-secular-world/ Perhaps you might enjoy reading them! Happy fasting!
