The Badi (Baha’i) Calendar Video

March 12, 2016, in Videos > Documentary, by

The National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the United Kingdom commissioned this 15 minute video to assist us in our understanding and appreciation of the Baha’i calendar known as the Badi calendar.

In its message of 10 July 2014, to the Baha’is of the World, the Universal House of Justice announced the worldwide implementation of the Badi calendar, inaugurated by the Bab.

The Universal House of Justice informed the Baha’i community of the resolution of certain matters pertaining to the calendar including: the means for the determination of Naw-Ruz; the accommodation of the lunar character of the Twin Holy Birthdays of the Bab and Baha’u’llah within the solar year; and the fixing of the dates of other Holy Days.

The “adoption of a new calendar in each dispensation,” the Universal House of Justice wrote, “is a symbol of the power of Divine Revelation to reshape human perception of material, social, and spiritual reality. Through it, sacred moments are distinguished, humanity’s place in time and space reimagined, and the rhythm of life recast.”

At Naw-Ruz this year, with the universal implementation of this unique and wondrous calendar, “yet another historic step” was marked “in the manifestation of the unity of the people of Baha and the unfoldment of Baha’u’llah’s World Order.”

The Baha’i Blog team is extremely grateful to the the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the United Kingdom for making this wonderful video and for allowing Baha’i Blog to publish it.
