Festival of Ridvan

  • Ridvan celebrates Baha’u’llah’s time in 1863 in the garden of Ridvan in Baghdad when He publicly declared His station as a Manifestation of God. The Ridvan Festival is 12 days long and is also the time of year when Baha’is elect their governing bodies.

The Streets Barber

June 9, 2016, in Videos > Documentary, by

Nasir Sobhani AKA ‘The Streets Barber’, is a true Nomad, not just of the world, but also of the mind. Growing up in Japan, attending University in Canada, volunteering his time to work with youth in Vanuatu and then to Australia to start up his own initiative helping the homeless, Nasir has certainly lived a fruitful life. It wasn’t all smooth sailing though, with a crippling drug addiction along the way, Nasir thanks his Baha’i faith and barbering for his new found sobriety. Working six days a week cutting hair, Nasir spends his one day off hitting the streets to give free haircuts to the homeless. He calls it, ‘Clean Cut Clean Start’.

Dear friends,
I am deeply sorry to say that he has made an idiot out of himself. With all those tattoos and piercings, some sort of “decadence art”, cannot represent rational and intellectual aspects of our dearly beloved Faith.
Just act upon your age, not behave like an ignorant.

Dear friend,
A few quotes from ‘Abdu’l-Baha:
“Ye who are servants of the human race, strive ye with all your heart to deliver mankind out of this darkness and these prejudices that belong to the human condition and the world of nature, so that humanity may find it’s way into the light of the world of God.”
The acts of this lovely man in the video obviously transcend his physicality. The acts tap into “the light of the world of God.” The prejudiced comment regarding his appearance, does not.
“Should one become the cause of grief to any one heart, or of despondency to any one soul, it we’re better to hide oneself in the lowest depths of the earth than to walk upon the earth”
And lastly:
“Love the creatures for the sake of God and not for themselves. You will never become angry or impatient if you love them for the sake of God. Humanity is not perfect. There are imperfections in every human being, and you will always become unhappy if you look toward the people themselves. But if you look toward God, you will love them and be kind to them, for the world of God is the world of perfection and complete mercy.”

Much Love!

The variety of the possibilities of serving Humanity is amazing. This man used one of his talents to serve the hopeless ones. For a moment, they got some dignity and they smile. Congratulations.
Up to us to accept him as he likes to be as humbly as he acts.
