The Journey West podcast celebrates the centenary of Abdu’l-Baha’s travels to Egypt, Europe and North America in 1911-1913. Each episode features a reading of one of Abdu’l-Baha’s talks, as well as dramatized stories and historical accounts. Each episode concludes with a discussion of the talk that was featured.
In this episode, Abdu’l-Baha spoke to a small group of friends, on October 21, 1911, about the pitiful causes of war, and the duty of everyone to strive for peace. He said, “I charge you all that each one of you concentrate all the thoughts of your heart on love and unity. When a thought of war comes, oppose it by a stronger thought of peace. A thought of hatred must be destroyed by a more powerful thought of love.” In addition to this talk, you’ll also hear the story of Thomas Breakwell, as told from the perspective of May Maxwell. You can find out more about the context of that talk, as well as who helped put this podcast episode together, on The Journey West website here.
