July 22, 2020, in Audio > Talks, by

This is the audio version of a talk given in Persian/Farsi by Dr. Nader Saiedi on ‘The Secret of Divine Civilization’, a book written anonymously by Abdu’l-Baha in 1875, addressed to the rulers and the people of Persia, but can be applied to developmental reform in any society. It is considered to be part of the authoritative religious text of the Bahaʼi Faith. The work was lithographed in Bombay in 1882 and received wide circulation in Iran under the Persian title Risali-yi-madaniyyih or the Treatise on Civilization.

Dr. Nader Saiedi is well known for his books ‘Logos and Civilization’ and ‘Gate of the Heart’. Born in Tehran, Iran, he holds a Masters degree in economics from Pahlavi University in Shiraz and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin. For over 25 years he was a professor of sociology at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. In 2013, he became the Taslimi Foundation Professor of Baha’i Studies in the department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at UCLA.

This online talk was given on 11 July, 2020, and Baha’i Blog would like to give special thanks to Dr. Saiedi for allowing his presentation to be recorded and published, and to Akram and Michael Namati, members of the Baha’i community of the Gold Coast, Australia, for organizing the presentation and allowing it to be recorded and shared.
