Art, Beauty and the Human Spirit

January 4, 2024, in Audio > Talks, by

The Association for Baha’i Studies has a genuine online treasure trove of archived informative, engaging, uplifting and thoughtful talks on its YouTube channel. It shares different archival gems on Spotify, including this panel featuring Leili Towfiq, Sky Glabush and Siyamak Hariri.

This talk is from the 40th annual conference of the Association for Baha’i Studies in 2016 that was held in Montreal, Canada. The panelists explore some vital questions such as: How do Baha’i insights into the relationship between beauty and the human spirit inform our approach to art? What makes good art? How important are novelty, usefulness, and intrinsic beauty to making good art? What is the role of art in the development of community life? How can and should art influence society?

You can follow ceramic artist Leili Towfiq and visual artist Sky Glabush on Instagram, and find the works of Siyamak Hariri, architect of the House of Worship in Santiago, Chile online.
