Because of the significance of the number nine in the Baha’i Faith, one of the most common symbols associated with the Faith is the nine pointed star. It’s not by any stretch of the imagination an easy number to work in origami, but it can be done, and to beautiful effect. We’ve found and collected some truly impressive nine-sided origami creations, ranging from stars to bowls to boxes.

This popular paper folding craft produces some extremely beautiful designs and it is also a great way to take time out from a busy schedule and unwind. The best part is that origami does not require glue, sticky tape, or staples – all you will need is paper, a flat surface to work on, and folding instructions. You can find origami paper in most art and craft stores, as well as some newsagents, bookstores, and specialised stationary shops. There are many origami paper packs available online on popular sites such as eBay and Etsy or you can visit TheOrigamiPaperShop.com.
If you are interested in trying your hand at more origami patterns, you can find an abundance online through sources such as Pinterest. Origami-Instructions.com is also a great website for free origami patterns and step-by-step guides, as is their YouTube channel for those who would prefer to follow video tutorials of the craft.
You can find some tutorials and instructions for nine-sided patterns in these two videos:
Folding origami in nine pointed patterns isn’t simple, so if you’re looking for something a little easier, you can try a fold + cut pattern. There’s a great video tutorial on Baha’i Children’s Class Ideas.
