Bring Us the Flame: A Poem by Paul Toloui-Wallace, Arranged by Shadi Toloui-Wallace & Jason Bienia

October 28, 2019, in Music > Recording Artist, by

“Bring Us the Flame” is a poem written by Paul Toloui-Wallace as a tribute to the Bab, Prophet-herald of the Baha’i Faith, in honour of the bicentenary anniversary of His Birth. Musically arranged by by Shadi Toloui-Wallace and Jason Bienia, this poem strives to bring to life the intangible qualities of God, the Creator, as we know them through His manifestations.

The poem follows the journey of a devout Babi pilgrim on his way to meet the Bab while He is captive in the fortress of Maku. The pilgrim comes across humble Babi villagers who who possess spiritual insight, and are too poor to travel. These devoted souls yearn for guidance and spiritual sustenance from the Bab. Not wishing to burden the pilgrim, they request these intangible items to be brought back to them, as they feel the items will guide their ways and sustain them spiritually.

You can read more about the inspiration for this poem on Shadi’s blog here.
