Abdu’l-Baha was the eldest son of Baha’u’llah. When Abdu’l-Baha passed away on 28 November 1921, He was eulogized as One who led humanity to the “Way of Truth,” as a “pillar of peace” and the embodiment of “glory and greatness.”
Cherie is a Baha’i who lives on Darug land, and in honour of NAIDOC Week, she shares the Dreamtime creation story of the galah, accompanied by her pet!
NAIDOC Week is a national week of celebrations held across Australia every year (July 3-10) in order to honour the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme for NAIDOC Week is “Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!”.
NAIDOC Week is celebrated not only in indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life and therefore Baha’i Blog hopes to be able to make more videos like this one in order to serve as a platform to listen to, and foster conversations about the history, culture and achievements of the first nations peoples of Australia. Learn more about this initiative here: Creating a Space to Celebrate the Indigenous Peoples of Australia
The Darug people are scattered throughout much of what is modern-day Sydney. You can learn more about the Darug people here: wikipedia.org/wiki/Darug

Naysan is passionate about using the arts and media to explore the teachings of the Baha’i Faith. Back in 2011, Naysan started up the Baha’i Blog project, channeling his experiences in both media and technology companies to help create a hub for Baha’i-inspired content online.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia.
We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their cultures; and to elders both past and present.
