Abdu’l-Baha—the eldest Son of Baha’u’llah—was the Baha’i Faith’s leading exponent, renowned as a champion of social justice and an ambassador for international peace.
As this year marks the 100th anniversary of the Passing of Abdu’l-Baha, a number of friends have asked me where they can find high-quality images of Abdu’l-Baha that they can use legally (without copyright restrictions) for their commemorations and activities.
The Baha’i World Centre has created a wonderful library of downloadable high-quality images called the Baha’i Media Bank, which “provides photographs for download, intended for non-commercial purposes only.” Copyright information and how the photos can be used is found on their “Legal Information” page — which we definitely recommend reading carefully.
On the Baha’i Media Bank, you’ll find a section of 40 photographs dedicated to Abdu’l-Baha and His Shrine.
The Baha’i World News Service (BWNS) is the official news source of the worldwide Baha’i community and it also features stories related to Abdu’l-Baha, such as updates on the construction of His Shrine. You can download and use photos from the BWNS, and you can read the site’s terms of use here: https://news.bahai.org/legal/
The Baha’is of the United States created a special website in honor of the centenary of Abdu’l-Baha’s travels in 2012 called “Abdu’l-Baha in America”. It is a resource-rich website and you can find out how the photos can be used and how they should be attributed on their “Sources and Terms of Use” page.
Farzam Sabetian has created a website called Luminous Spot which features high resolution photographs of Baha’i Holy Places, including the House of the Master in Haifa, that can be used. Farzam explains why he created the site and how he hopes the images will be used in this Baha’i Blog interview: LuminousSpot.com – An Incredible Website of Baha’i Photographs
So just to recap, here are 4 great places to find images of Abdu’l-Baha, or relating to Him, that are high quality and that can be used freely:
