Ridvan celebrates Baha’u’llah’s time in 1863 in the garden of Ridvan in Baghdad when He publicly declared His station as a Manifestation of God. The Ridvan Festival is 12 days long and is also the time of year when Baha’is elect their governing bodies.
In this interview, Sonjel speaks with Niv Saberi, a contestant on the 7th season of the Great Canadian Baking Show–which is airing now! Niv can’t disclose too much about the show but she shares a little bit about the process of being selected for the baking competition (including needing to find a commercial kitchen while vacationing in Adelaide), how baking is an art, craft AND science, what spiritual lessons can be learned when ingredients are subjected to agitation and stress, and how she’s using her capacities and talents to build and strengthen community life!
In the course of our conversation, Niv refers to these excerpts from the Baha’i Writings:
“Arts, crafts and sciences uplift the world of being, and are conducive to its exaltation.”
“Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit therefrom.”
