Abdu’l-Baha was the eldest son of Baha’u’llah who referred to Him as “the Mystery of God” and “a shelter for all mankind”, however Abdu’l-Baha preferred to be called “Abdu’l-Baha” which means “the Servant of Baha” in reference to His servitude to Baha’u’llah. When Abdu’l-Baha passed away on 28 November 1921, He was eulogized as One who led humanity to the “Way of Truth,” as a “pillar of peace” and the embodiment of “glory and greatness.”
The Universal House of Justice has released a letter addressed to the Baha’is of the world dated 1 December 2021, reflecting on the centenary commemoration of the Ascension of Abdu’l-Baha in the Holy Land.
The letter can be viewed and downloaded from the Baha’i Reference Library here: 1 December 2021 – To the Baha’is of the World
For ease of reference, we have also included the letter below:
THE UNIVERSAL HOUSE OF JUSTICE
1 December 2021
To the Baha’is of the WorldDearly loved Friends,
As we reflect on the events which a few days ago marked the centenary of the Ascension of Abdu’l-Baha in the Holy Land, we feel impelled to express to you our sense of wonderment at the exalted character of what transpired. We offer praise and gratitude to the Blessed Beauty that, despite current circumstances in the world and the many restrictions on travel, nearly six hundred representatives of the vast majority of National Spiritual Assemblies and Regional Baha’i Councils were able to be present at the Baha’i World Centre for this historic occasion. The days of this remarkable gathering were spent in profound contemplation on the life and example of the beloved Master, on Abdu’l-Baha as the Centre of the Covenant, on His Will and Testament and the unfoldment of the Administrative Order over the last century, and on the extraordinary distance the Baha’i world has travelled through the implementation of His Divine Plan. A spirit of consecration permeated the air as those present prayed in the vicinity of His resting place on the anniversary of the holy night of His Ascension. The love of Abdu’l-Baha drew the souls to the Mountain of the Lord, and they return to their homes carrying the love of the Universal House of Justice to the institutions they represent and to all the friends of God.
We are confident that the spiritual forces generated by this gathering will be diffused throughout your communities and will inspire the friends as they prepare themselves for the upcoming series of worldwide conferences, which will launch the Baha’i world into the next stage of the Divine Plan. To this end, we will offer our ardent prayers at the Sacred Threshold.

Immense gratitude for your sharing this very timely letter of our Supreme Institution, the Universal House of Justice !
Also Samoa has been present, represented at these events on the centenary of the Ascension of ‘Abdu’l-Baha in the Holy Land !
From Samoa we celebrated them near the resting place of our dear Hand of the Cause of God Dr. Ugo Giachery (who passed away here in 1989, while visiting HH King Malietoa Tanumafili II, the first King to be a Baha’i {while the first Baha’i Queen had been HRM Queen Mary of Rumania} , in the Temple Gardens after a special service in the House of Worship, Baha’i Mother Temple for the Pacific.
In these events not only participated Toa’a Tosi, the Baha’i who is the eldest daughter of Baha’i King Malietoa Tanumafili II, but also participated the first lady Prime Minister of Samoa, Hon. Fiame Naomi Mataafa, who admires the Baha’i Teachings and fondly remembers her unforgettable visit to the Baha’i World Centre, including a very special time at the Resting Place of Baha’u’llah !!!
Also through the many generous recollections shared by those who met the Master, from still covid-free Samoa, we marvel at the wonderful continuous global implementation of His Divine Plan.
No doubt, the spiritual forces generated by this timely gathering will diffuse also here through the peoples of the Ocean of Peace, the Pacific, a wonderful part of our world which each of you can please remember in her/his prayers, and, when the opportunity comes, include Samoa and other Pacific islands in a Teaching Trip to share His Divine Teachings to all listening ears !!! !!! !!!
