Baha’is believe in the power of prayer and you’ll find Baha’is and their friends, throughout the world, getting together to pray. This is often referred to as a ‘devotional gathering’ or ‘devotional meeting’, and they happen in diverse settings, whether in cities or villages.
Hello and welcome to the Baha’i Blogcast with me your host, Rainn Wilson.
In this series of podcasts I interview members of the Baha’i Faith and friends from all over the world about their hearts, and minds, and souls, their spiritual journeys, what they’re interested in, and what makes them tick.
In this episode I interview Payam Zamani, Iranian-born entrepreneur and philanthropist living in San Francisco. He tells me about his escape from Iran to the United States, his early religious experiences as a Baha’i, including the discrimination he experienced in Iran, his family’s pioneering journeys in different countries, his humble beginnings, switching careers, becoming a business owner and his desire to find the spirit of service in his work, plus a lot more. Payam is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of One Planet Ops and the Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of www.bahaiteachings.org.

Naysan is passionate about using the arts and media to explore the teachings of the Baha’i Faith. Back in 2011, Naysan started up the Baha’i Blog project, channeling his experiences in both media and technology companies to help create a hub for Baha’i-inspired content online.
I really enjoyed being introduced to this co-founder of http://www.bahaiteachings.org – one of my favorite websites – and hearing his inspiring backstory. I was also happy to hear the full quote from Rainn of the four human qualities that Bahá’u’llah extolled. And I was glad to get Payam’s recommendation for the Priceless Pearl, a book I haven’t read yet, which is now next on my list.
BTW guys, I’ve heard the story that when the Guardian was still convalescing from his breakdown, he had a vision of ‘Abdu’l Bahá commanding him, “March! March! March!” Can anyone tell me the provenance of that story?
