In 1844, Siyyid Ali-Muhammad (known by His title, the Bab, which means "the Gate") announced that He was the bearer of a Divine Revelation whose aim was to prepare the world for a Messenger of God--Baha'u'llah. The anniversary of that declaration is celebrated by Baha'is and their friends all over the world.
“Light of Unity” is a song based on a passage from the Writings of Baha’u’llah. It was performed by the mass choir at the 2023 Australian Baha’i Choral Festival in October. The Baha’i Choral Festival attracts participants from across Australia to sing in the Sydney Baha’i Temple. They perform sacred a cappella music in a variety of styles. Interspersed between the songs are prayers and readings from the world’s major religions.
The words of Baha’u’llah sung are:
So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.
This song was composed Pierre Weber and it was conducted by Lorraine Manifold.
