Baha’is see the young as the most precious treasure a community can possess. In them are the promise and guarantee of the future. Yet, in order for this promise to be realised, children need to receive spiritual nourishment, such as can be found in the children’s classes happening all around the world.
As a proudly Australian initiative, we’re excited to showcase a collection of Australian stories, music, tributes and more.
Rachel Parker-Roohi, a children’s class teacher in Mosman Park, shows us what she has been learning with her children’s class: the prayer she calls “the Pearl Prayer” by Abdu’l-Baha in Auslan (the sign language used by the majority of the Australian Deaf community). Rachel takes us sign by sign through the prayer and then we are given the chance to sing and sign it along with a children’s class.
The words of the prayer are:
He is God! O God, my God! Bestow upon me a pure heart, like unto a pearl.
The music of the prayer was composed by Greg Parker and we’d like to extend special thanks to all the children and teachers who made the video and to the Mosman Park School for Deaf Children for translating the prayer into Auslan.
If you enjoy this video, you might wish to also check out our video where we learn “O God Guide Me” in Auslan!
