Ridvan celebrates Baha’u’llah’s time in 1863 in the garden of Ridvan in Baghdad when He publicly declared His station as a Manifestation of God. The Ridvan Festival is 12 days long and is also the time of year when Baha’is elect their governing bodies.
The sixth video in Day by Day’s “Shaping my Day” affirmation series is all about resilience and adaptability.
Day by Day is an initiative from some of the Baha’i Blog team that offers meditations and affirmations to connect with your spiritual self. We hope that repeating the positive affirmations shared in this video will help you to create connections, love and friendship, and make positive change in the lives of those around you!
In the Baha’i Writings, resilience and adaptability, even in the face of hardship are seen as important characteristics for creating the opportunities for our spiritual growth. Shoghi Effendi writes:
“Failure, tests and trials, if we use them correctly, can become the means of purifying our spirit, strengthening our characters, and enable us to rise to greater heights of service.”
The affirmations that we are guided to repeat in this video are:
Many of my best experiences are the ones I don’t expect.
I make the most of what each day has to offer.
When things get tough, I get tougher.
My resourcefulness and resilience is bigger than any obstacle. New ideas, opinions and information fuel me.
If the old way isn’t working, I’ll try a new way.
I am a work in progress, always learning, growing and getting stronger.
I plan ahead when it’s helpful, and I go with the flow when it’s not.
