Ridvan celebrates Baha’u’llah’s time in 1863 in the garden of Ridvan in Baghdad when He publicly declared His station as a Manifestation of God. The Ridvan Festival is 12 days long and is also the time of year when Baha’is elect their governing bodies.
Is reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia what most people think it is? This short thought provoking talk by Dr Penny Taylor reflects on this important question.
Penny is a Baha’i who grew up in Tasmania on Palawa country, has worked in women and children’s human rights throughout the pacific, as a community solicitor in Darwin on Larrakia country, and for several years at the Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation leading their research division. She has a PhD focussed on reconciliation and race-relations in Australia. She now resides in Sydney and works for Reconciliation Australia in their Community Truth Telling program.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia.
We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their cultures; and to elders both past and present.
